30 years ago in the AORN Journal

AORN Journal, Sept, 2005

The "Editorial" says women now work harder and enjoy less leisure time than their mothers and grandmothers did. The modern woman works 66 to 75 hours a week at combined job and household duties. * An advertisement for cheery, floral-patterned surgical garments claims they will boost everyone's morale.

* An article on surgical procedures to correct scoliosis states that as community awareness and screening programs become more effective, the need for scoliosis spine surgery will diminish and the use of external supports (eg, braces) will become more common. * In "Q&A" a reader questions whether nurses in her OR should be allowed to wear large dangling earrings and necklaces that range from small chains to large zodiac symbols outside of their scrub attire.
