In the OR, you respond to one question after another, constantly thinking on your feet to protect your patients. Why not share your knowledge by competing in the 2006 AORN Perioperative QuizBowl?

The Perioperative QuizBowl: Evidence-Based Practice will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2006, from 3:30 to 4:45 PM at the AORN Congress in Washington, DC. This action-packed session will have a game show atmosphere, with questions that are unique to perioperative nursing. This general session will engage the audience and expand everyone's knowledge base. Teams will compete in a Found of online testing to determine the final four teams. The top four teams will compete for the grand prize at Congress.

To become part of this exciting event, create a team of four members and an alternate; all participants must be AORN members. The team members should elect a captain, decide on a unique team name, and create a password to identify the team during the testing phase and at Congress. Team captains must register the team in the Member Zone area of the AORN web site at http://www.aorn.org /Congress/Quizbowl/default.htm. Teams must be registered by Oct 21, 2005. Each team member will receive an e-mail that confirms his or her place on the team.

All team members must take a multiple-choice, timed test online and participate in an online orientation. Teams will complete the testing during the week of Nov 14 to 18, 2005. Teams will not be able to replace team members after testing starts.

AORN will announce the final four teams by Jan 27, 2006. The winning teams will be notified via e-mail If one or more ties occur among the top teams, the final four teams will be chosen randomly. All members of the selected teams must be at Congress on Wednesday, March 22. Each team member must attend a rehearsal on Wednesday between 10 AM and 3:15 PM to become familiar with the stage setting and technology.

AORN will waive Congress registration for the four final teams for the day of the QuizBowl (ie, Wednesday, March 22). AORN will not reimburse any other team-related expenses. Please contact Melissa Mares at mmares@aorn.org with any questions.
