Top factors for nurse turnover identified

A survey of nearly 100 health care executives identified the top factors affecting nurse turnover, according to a Nov 23, 2005, news release from Nursefinders, Inc. These factors include

* work-related stress,

* patient cafe load/staffing,

* effectiveness of direct manager,

* scheduling options,

* recognition,

* participation in decision making,

* compensation,

* competence of clinical staff,

* growth opportunities, and

* ancillary support personnel.
