40 years ago in the AORN Journal

AORN Journal, Sept, 2006

The "President's Message" celebrates the formation of the 100th AORN chapter, AORN of Northwest Arkansas. An article discusses the advantages of a new radiopaque, plastic drain for use in neurosurgery. The drain has high tensile strength, so it can be pulled out of a wound without breaking. It also is calibrated in centimeters, so a surgeon can tell at a glance if any of the drain remains in the wound.

In "OR Fact and Principle," a reader asks if coverall jumpsuits will be the standard OR garb of the future, even for women. Another reader asks whether it is a static electricity hazard to wear a jumpsuit over wool trousers. * An article tells readers how to start a chapter newsletter. The author hand-addresses her chapter's 300 monthly newsletters and mails them at four cents per copy
