40 years ago in the AORN Joural

AORN Journal, March, 2007

The Presidential address to the 14th annual AORN Congress describes AORN's new New York offices as "cheery, feminine, and yet utilitarian." * An article advocates use of silver nitrate to treat burns, saying this treatment is nontoxic, is nonallergenic, does not encourage development of resistant strains of bacteria, and seems to stimulate growth of the epithelium from minimal residual cells.

* Another article describes a ventriculoatriostomy procedure for infants with hydrocephalus. * "News in ORbit" reports that public health scientists have developed a simple and reliable test for detecting immunity to rubella; a physician can determine within three hours whether an expectant mother has antibody protection against the disease.
