The "Headquarters Report" says AORN now has 35 full-time employees as well as several temporary employees who assist with Congress activities. * An author writes that chronic electrical stimulation of the brain by surgically implanted electrodes can play a significant role in controlling a variety of intractable pain problems.

* A news item warns that the risks of silicone injections for merely cosmetic purposes (eg, smoothing facial wrinkles, enlarging breasts) far outweigh any possible benefit. * "Legislation" reports that one health care bill introduced in the 95th US Congress would restructure the present method of health care delivery in the United States to encompass a national health service that would replace private insurance coverage.
