AORN Journal, Oct, 2003
I just want to let you know that I like the new changes to the AORN Journal. They were much needed and came at a time I was going to let my membership lapse because I am retired. I didn't find the old Journal attractive enough to get me "hooked" on reading it; but as you said in your own words, I don't think you "went far enough."

I want to see a Journal more like RN and Nursing 03. I want comment columns and many more "little" pieces of helpful information, rather than long articles. Your contact hour offerings also are not as "simple" as other journals, and I don't mean easy--I mean simplified, as in user friendly. I keep up my license and like being well informed, but all those long articles are more than any retired nurse wants--to say nothing of busy working nurses. Shorter, helpful hint articles are what I hear many nurses say they want. That doesn't mean long articles aren't wanted. And get some new ads. The old ones are getting boring. They are always the same. Also, add more human interest stories about OR nurses in the community. I'll keep my subscription and hope to see more new changes.

I think the new Journal format was okay. I did not see any big difference besides the larger font and the font style change on titles with the little lined heading design. I felt it flowed just like the old Journal. I like how Nursing 2003 has its journal set up. It is very bold and defined with different colors in headings. It is very eye catching and fun to read. When you want to read what's new out there it needs to be together in one place. In the AORN Journal, this information is here and there after a home study or wherever you need to fill space. Those are my suggestions, but all in all, it was okay.

My staff of RNs and scrub techs love the new look and print size of the AORN Journal. It is easier to read and follow the flow of the articles. Great job!
