AORN has introduced several new publications and products, which are available in AORN's Perioperative Bookstore.
* Leadership in Action: A Manager's Guide to Success, will help novice perioperative managers build a sound foundation and gain functional knowledge and leadership skills needed to ensure success in today's challenging health care environment. The book is $45 for AORN members and $56 for nonmembers.

* PNOS @ Work: Building a Perioperative Patient Record, by Susan V. N. Kleinbeck, RN, PhD, CNOR, is the first in a series titled PNDS @ Work. This 64-page color book focuses on building a patient record--both written and electronic--using the Perioperative Nursing Data Set (PNDS) vocabulary. The book contains tips from nurses who have been through the process of implementing an electronic patient record that incorporates the PNDS. The entire PNDS @ Work series concentrates on using the PNDS vocabulary in everyday nursing practice. Look for more books in this series Later in the year. The book is available to AORN members for $15 and nonmembers for $19.
* Losers: The Perioperative Challenge, third ed, by Kay Ball, RN, MSN, CNOR, FAAN, provides valuable insight into the responsibilities of nursing personnel in virtually every laser procedure and includes a section on the administrative aspects of a laser program, from forming the program to financing and staff member education. It also discusses various laser systems used by health care professionals, laser biophysics, laser safety, and significant updates on specialties in which laser use has changed dramatically during the past five years. The book is $40 for AORN members and $50 for nonmembers.
* Ethics in Perioperative Practice combines nine articles that discuss the American Nurses Association's Code of Ethics for Nurses With Interpretive Statements and its application to perioperative nursing. These award-winning articles originally appeared in the AORN Journal in 2002. The price includes 13.5 contact hours. The module is $70 for AORN members and $88 for nonmembers.
* The Educators' CD for Ethics study module is designed to be used with the Ethics in Perioperative Practice study module. The CD contains the serf-study module in portable document format, preceptor guidelines, a PowerPoint presentation, and a script. The self-study module can be used individually to enhance users' competence and earn contact hours, or an educator can distribute the module to a group of nurses and use accompanying tools to reinforce their learning. The CD is $10 for AORN members and $20 for nonmembers. Contact hours may be earned for an additional fee.
