The AORN Special Committee on Environmental Issues reports results of an environmental survey. Among the findings were that 77% of hospitals were increasing their use of single-use products because of convenience, infection control, and environmental concerns. * A position statement on perioperative care of patients with do-not-resuscitate orders is proposed for review and comment.

* An article about clinical forensics for perioperative nurses says the number of violent crimes reported to law enforcement agencies in 1992 was more than 1.9 million. * Two articles discuss care of pediatric patients with traumatic injuries, and a third article details the development of a trauma OR at one hospital.
