Periop 101. A Core Curriculum.

Periop 101: A Core Curriculum--formerly called AORN's Perioperative Nursing Course 101--is a comprehensive, administrator-led, online program for educating new perioperative nurses. The curriculum covers 26 crucial topics and is designed to be integrated with your facility's specific policies and procedures in a clinical practicum and preceptorship.

Periop 101 will help you develop confident, better-educated, safety-conscious, novice perioperative nurses. The course includes overviews, reading assignments, glossaries, bibliographies, post-tests, preceptor guidelines, video clips, a critical skills assessment checklist, a Preparing the Preceptor module with continuing education contact hours, and more. AORN, in partnership with the Competency and Credentialing Institute, is offering a new, unique learning opportunity specifically for perioperative leaders in facilities on their way to achieving ANCC Magnet Recognition. Participants will be provided with tools and strategies to effectively demonstrate the Forces of Magnetism within the perioperative setting. Online Education

AMBULATORY SURGERY ADMINISTRATOR CERTIFICATE PROGRAM. This four-month program combines face-to-face education with the convenience of an online program. This course begins with a two-day, seminar followed by 11 online learning modules. The program provides the basic skills and tools needed to manage every aspect of an ambulatory surgery practice, from daily operations to regulatory requirements. The next course begins May 18 and 19, and will be held at the Hyatt Regency in San Antonio, Texas. ADVANCED AMBULATORY SURGERY ADMINISTRATOR CERTIFICATE PROGRAM. AORN has developed a certificate program that addresses the needs of directors and administrators of ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). Participants must complete eight of the 10 online course modules in four months to earn the certificate and continuing education contact hours.
