* It is reported that clinical trials of artificial blood, which had been used in 500 patients in Japan, will begin in the United States. * In "Q & A," one reader asks if it is appropriate to use transfer forceps stored in germicidal solution to deliver sterile items to the surgical field. The answer advises that this should not be done.
