AORN member wins legislative award - Brief Article

AORN Journal,  Nov, 2003

Kay A. Ball, RN, BSN, MSA, CNOR, FAAN, AORN past President, received the Ohio Nurses Association (ONA) Excellence in Political Action Award at the ONA convention awards banquet on Oct 6, 2004. She was recognized for her outstanding leadership and participation in political activities. Ball has demonstrated the ability to influence legislators and other politicians for the improvement of health care and nursing practice and has educated and inspired her peers on political action and the role of politics in nursing.

Ohio State Representative Jon Peterson stated in his letter of support, "In the [Ohio] General Assembly, fellow legislators depend on Kay for honest and straightforward perspectives regarding nursing and other related issues ... Kay epitomizes the type of accomplished individual this award was intended to honor ... Kay continues to make measurable and meaningful contributions to our state through her service and she will continue to be an inspiration to those who have the privilege to work with her on important public policy issues."
