AORN Journal,  Dec, 2004

For the first time, schools of nursing that distinguish themselves with outstanding achievement in the promotion of excellence in nursing education are being publicly acknowledged, according to an Oct 1, 2004, news release from the National League for Nursing (NLN). Three schools--the Community College of Philadelphia, Philadelphia; the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD; and the Villanova College of Nursing, Villanova, Pa--each have received a three-year designation as NLN Centers of Excellence in Nursing Education, based on their sustained demonstration of excellence in student Learning and professional development.

Centers of Excellence designation also can be awarded for excellence in faculty development and excellence in nursing education research. The NLN anticipates that the awards will make nursing schools' most exciting programs known to the academic community and inspire other schools to strive for excellence. For more information, visit http://www.nln.org/profdev/excellence.htm.

The NLN Names Prestigious Centers of Excellence in Nursing Education (news release, New York: National League for Nursing, Oct 1, 2004).
