dogs, SpagehettiOs and chili (one dish is called the "BBQ Gaswich").  The teen
boy magazine also remembers the girls.  MH-18 profiles five female X Games
competitors, praising them for their looks and skills.  Everclear lead singer
Art Alexakis talks about his angry teen years and how anger management classes
helped him get things under control.  Readers also divulge their most
embarrassing moments - which include spilling a whole bottle of Tommy Hilfiger
cologne on your pants when changing clothes after gym class.
Editors Endorse: Editors have a lot of praise for Kryptonite bike locks, which
they say a hired bike thief was unable to pick. They also like Sony W.Ear
Headphones, the Louisville Slugger Air C555 and Ologi Watches.  Student
Advantage's Web Site (scholaraid.studentadvantage.com) got kudos for its
scholarship search engine.

Overview: Seventeen looks at eight myths about condoms and birth control pills.

According to the magazine's survey of 500 teens between 12 and 17, half of the
teens thought you needed parental permission to get the pill. Another 24%
thought they needed their parents' OK to buy condoms.  One in five teens
interviewed thought the pill would protect against STDs.  Articles include a
day-in-the-life of a bike messenger and tips on protecting yourself from crime
on campus.  Jennifer Lopez snags the cover and talks about her upcoming album
"J-Lo," due to hit stores in late January.

Accents
Cosmic Shake & Shimmer Hair Perfume and Townley Tie Dye Compact, which is
filled
with fruity lip gloss.

Overview: This issue features the 2000 Teen Award Winners, in which more than
110,000 readers reportedly took part. "Dawson's Creek" won in the "Show That's
So Over" category, but also managed to nab the "Best Romantic Storyline" title.

Freddie Prinze Jr. and Julia Stiles were named favorite leading actors, and
Pink
got the nod for Fave New Artist. Cover girl Mandy Moore works as a guest
reporter and interviews some of the "foxiest dudes in Hollywood," such as "Once

And Again's" Shane West. Christian rockers get a short piece that looks at
their
crossover potential. Teen predicts Jars of Clay, whose "Flood" received a lot
of
airplay in 1995, might be back on mainstream radio soon.  Fashion picks include

metallic accessories, faux fur and skateboard gear. Articles include light
fare,
such as 20 things to do in 2001, and a serious piece on a girl who suffered
from
self-injury problems.
Editors Endorse: Beauty editors like Pretty Pretty Cosmetics, BeneFit's Kitten
Shower Caps and the new fragrance Adidas Moves for Her.  Te Tao Tea for Hair, a

collection of shampoos and condi-tioners, also gets a thumbs up.  Blink-182's
live CD "The Mark, Tom, & Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back)" also received
rave reviews.

Target is touting its Web site's Saturn giveaway.  Teen and Maybelline promote
their upcoming model search. Prizes include an appearance on the cover of Teen
and $5,000 from Maybelline.

Magazine & Issue Date: Teen People Winter 2001
Overview: Christina Aguilera nabs the cover of Teen People's special year-end
issue. Inside, she talks about winning a Grammy and her relationship with
fellow
pop queen Britney Spears. The issue features several top 10 lists. For top
entertainment stories, the weddings of two Backstreet Boys came in at No. 1.
With Jessica Simpson and other celebrities saying they will wait for marriage
to
have sex, abstinence was ranked as the No. 1 issue for 2000. Diversity came in
fifth, with one teen praising the amount of diversity she sees in commercials
these days. Articles include a portrait of a typical teenager, from the shoes
they wear (Nike) to their average weekly allowance ($50).
Editors Endorse: Editors' picks include Ripe nail polish, Guess? flower denim
pants, 'N Rage Hair Color Spray and Temptu Crystal Body Jewels.
