DOAJ titles—pass 2,000

Information Outlook, May, 2006

The Directory of Open Access Journals has increased its collection to more than 2,000 open-access journals, the Lund, Sweden-based organization reports. (See www.doaj.org.) The directory aims to comprehensively cover all open access scholarly journals that use an appropriate quality control system and to include all languages and subject areas. It is operated by the Lund University Libraries.

The database records are freely available for reuse in library catalogues and other services and can be harvested by using the OAI-PMH (http://www.openarchives.org/).

DOAJ reports that visitors from more than 150 countries use the service monthly and that hundreds of libraries worldwide have included its titles in their catalogues.
