Hand-held Tubenet Tools Have Dual Throttle Safety Feature - from Advanced Assembly Group - Brief Article

Automotive Manufacturing & Production, Feb, 2001

Advanced Assembly Group (AAG; Farmington Hills, MI) is offering, as a safety feature, a dual throttle on all tech-motive tool 66 Series tools used in tubenut or open-end applications. The dual throttle is linked to an anti tie-down circuit integrated into the internal Intelligent Tool Interface (ITI) board.

This circuit prevents the operator from actuating the tool except when both hands are on the throttle levers. The throttle triggers must be activated within 0.50 seconds of each other in order for the tool to start, preventing the possibility that the operator will start the tool accidentally with fingers near the open end of the head and risk injury. The anti-tie down dual throttle is provided as a standard feature on all 66 Series tubenut head tools. It is also available on the new right-angle tools with flange heads that can be fitted with tubenut heads from third-party suppliers such as D&D, Jemms Cascade, Kramer, K-fast and others.
