I Can't Believe It's Not Leather! - Avery Dennison, Soft-Touch formable film laminate - Brief Article

Automotive Manufacturing & Production, August, 2001

Who: Avery Dennison (Troy, MI)

What: Soft-Touch formable film laminate for use in automotive interiors

Why you should care: Soft-Touch film bonds well to thermoplastic olefins (TPO) and can be processed to create looks like woodgrains, metallics and both geometric and organic patterns.

Pertinent Data: Soft Touch is available in thicknesses of less that 30 mil for thermoforming and injection molding applications, or in rigid sheets thicker than 30 mil for injection clad processes. This material allows OEMs to use lower cost TPO material in areas where they could not in the past because TPO did not perform well with paint. It also eliminates the need for post finishing by some injection molders.
