The 31st Annual Los Angeles Police-Celebrity Golf Tournament was held at Rancho Park Golf Course in West Los Angeles. The Tournament honored the police and fire personnel who died in the line of duty responding to the events of September 11, 2001.
Some of the celebrities that were scheduled to appear include Academy Award winner Joe Pesci (Goodfellas, Casino, Lethal Weapon 3 and 4), Joe Mantegna (First Monday, The Rat Pack), Thomas Gibson (Dharma & Greg, Eyes Wide Shut), and Erik Palladino (ER, U-571).
The Tournament is the major fundraising event of the Los Angeles Memorial Foundation which assists Los Angeles Police Department personnel experiencing catastrophic circumstances resulting from injury or death. Since its inception, the Foundation has granted more that $7.5 million for medical, funeral, and educational expenses.
Stargazers and autograph seekers enjoyed meeting and watching their favorite celebrities from movies, television, sports and music play a round of golf. This family-fun event featured displays from several of the Department's specialty units.
