Food & Beverage Managers Named for Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and The Disneyland Hotel

Jose Barragan has been named food & beverage manager for the new Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, and Carlos Acosta has been selected as the food & beverage manager for The Disneyland Hotel. The announcements were made by Hideo Amemiya, senior vice president of The Disneyland Resort Hotels.

As food & beverage manager for Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, Barragan will be responsible for all of the luxury hotel's food operations, including three restaurants, two lounges, banquets, room service and a division staff of 530 Cast Members. The hotel will be a deluxe 750-room property, and will be located within the 55-acre Disney's California Adventure theme park, which is set to open February 8,2001. Disney's Grand Californian Hotel will open January 2, 2001 and is the first hotel to be built inside a Disney park.

With more than 20 years of experience in the hotel industry, Barragan most recently served as the food & beverage manager for the nearby Disneyland Hotel, which he joined in 1997. He has held a variety of food & beverage positions at hotels throughout his career, including the Regent Beverly Wilshire, Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton. Barragan has advanced to positions of increasing responsibility since his first hotel job as a steward at the Westin South Coast Plaza two decades ago.

In his new Disney assignment, Barragan will report to Tony Bruno, general manager of Disney's Grand Californian Hotel.

Carlos Acosta has been named food & beverage manager of The Disneyland Hotel, a 990-room resort hotel that is part of The Disneyland Resort. In this position, Acosta is responsible for overseeing all of the hotel's food operations, including nearly 530 employees, three restaurants, three quick-service outlets, two lounges, banquets and room service.

Acosta joins Disney from Outrigger Wailea Resort and Aston Wailea Resort on the island of Maui where he had been the resort's food & beverage director since 1996. On a corporate level for Aston, he also developed food and beverage concepts for new hotels in Guam and Asia. Previously, he was involved in food operations for Kea Lani Hotel on Maui, Manele Bay Hotel in Lanai and The Lodge at Koele in Lanai.

Acosta has also held positions at City Club of Fort Worth, Marriott's Rancho Las Palmas Resort in Rancho Mirage and Marriott's Newport Beach Hotel and Tennis Club. His career in the hotel food industry spans 20 years.

In his new position at The Disneyland Resort, Acosta will report to Rod Schinnerer, general manager of The Disneyland Hotel.
