Jose Garcia, general manager, IBM Consumer Desktop Systems, has been honored by the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE) for his outstanding accomplishments in the business world Garcia was presented with a "Salute to Excellence Award" at the Eleventh Annual Career Development Conference in Chicago, Illinois this month.

"Excellence speaks for itself, and Mr. Garcia's accomplishments attest to the contributions which Hispanic professionals are making in business and industry," said Patricia Lara Garza, executive director of HACE.

Garcia joined IBM in 1969. In his current position he is responsible for worldwide business, products and operations management for the consumer brand of personal computers, including the award-winning Aptiva family of home computers. Most recently, Garcia led the highly successful launch of the Aptiva S Series of home computers, which feature the industry's first split-system design.
