Dr. Norma Goonen
First generation Cuban-American Dr. Norma Martin Goonen has been named Dean of the Farquhar Center for Undergraduate Studies at Nova Southwestern University. Formerly Associate Dean at Florida International University, Dr. Goonen also served as Vice-president for Academic Affairs at St. Thomas University. Her experience spans two decades of dedication and enthusiasm for undergraduate education.
Yasmin Perez
Once a high-school dropout, Yazmin Perez returned to get her GED eight years later, and earned a bachelor's degree from Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus. She has been hired to teach public school in New York City's District 19, and is now working toward her master's degree in education at her alma mater.
Michele Ruiz
After seven years at KTLA in Los Angeles, Michele Ruiz joins NBC4 as general assignment report. An energetic and dedicated journalist, she won three L.A. area Emmy Awards and two Golden Mikes for her outstanding work. Ruiz has also been recognized as a Latin Woman of Achievement, having served several organizations in volunteer capacities.
Belinda Guadarrama
A coveted "Supplier of the Year" honor was bestowed upon GC Micro Corporation of Novato, California, a premier supplier of computer hardware and software products. GC Micro was founded in 1986 by second-generation American Belinda Guadarrama, president and CEO of the company. Among her company's clients are the U.S. Dept. of Energy, Chevron, Lockheed Martin, Varian and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories.
