Emedia Professional, Dec, 1999 by Stephen F. Nathans

I'm reminded of an article published roughly a decade ago in New Musical Express (kind of a British Rolling Stone) that described Shane MacGowan's "A Pair of Brown Eyes" as a song that had "entered the tradition--it will be sung as long as there are men with voices and guitars." It's a strange characterization in this age of coded, recorded, and packaged sound.

It's also a rare reminder of what--besides the earth itself--truly endures.
