In a patent dispute between two Boulder tape-storage companies, Ecrix has intensified a legal battle against Exabyte, claiming in a U.S. District Court filing Thursday that the tape-drive manufacturer has wrongly accused it of infringement. In an amended complaint, Ecrix said that Exabyte "has attempted to extract both money and technology from Ecrix by making ... accusations that Ecrix is infringing a number of Exabyte patents" The legal battle began in June, when Ecrix asked the court to declare a finding of no patent infringement, despite the fact that Exabyte had only alleged infringement in letters and not through formal legal action.
