Emedia Professional, Jan, 2000

Cinram has entered into an alliance with MP3.com that it hopes will leverage the popularity of online digital music with the strengths of traditional pre-recorded media. Isidore Philosophe, chairman and CEO of Cinram said that the company "believes that there is tremendous potential for the delivery of Internet-sourced music onto CDs and ultimately DVD." In the agreement, Cinram will provide long-term exclusive, worldwide manufacturing and fulfillment services to MP3.com. Visitors to the MP3.com Web site will be able to purchase compilations of music via the Internet that would be manufactured onto CDs and shipped directly to them within 48 hours. MP3.com has also invested in Cinram by purchasing 1,5000,000 Cinram units at $13 Canadian per unit (about $8 US), each unit comprising one Cinram common share and one warrant to acquire additional Cinram common shares at $15 Canadian.
