NTI to Release Version 2.0 of Backup NOW!
NewTech Infosystems (NTI) has introduced version 2.0 of Backup NOW! Backup software for CD-R and CD-RW. Key features of Backup Now! 2.0 include bootable CD creation, a "find files" function enabling a user to locate specific backup data, and a network drive backup function, which allows users to back up a server from a desktop PC or workstation. Additionally, NTI's Backup NOW! 2.0 includes a built-in scheduler, which allows users to schedule automatic backups. Backup Now! 2.0 can create bootable CDs, and allows network server back ups from a desktop or workstation. Version 2.0 allows users to back up specific files or folders, or may back up an entire image. Backup Now! 2.0 operates under Windows 9x, and is compatible with major CD-R and CD-RW drives. NTI's Backup Now! 2.0 will become available in January 2000 at an estimated retail price of $99.

Yosemite Technologies Introduces TapeWare 6.2
Yosemite Technologies has announced TapeWare 6.2, the latest version of its data storage management software. TapeWare 6.2 adds support for Red Hat Linux 5.2-6.X, and can access diagnostic information from TapeAlert-capable drives. Backup devices are not restricted by operating system, network platform, or client/server status. Other key features of TapeWare 6.2 include software compression, multiple concurrent devices, a single administration point, and a database management system built around files and file instances.
