Philips Debuts HR100 Digital Audio CD-R, Cuts Audio Media Prices

Philips Consumer Electronics North America has introduced a new CD-R Digital Audio disc, the HR100. The new disc employs advanced-phthalocyanine dye, which, according to the company, achieves unprecedented resistance under direct sunlight exposure for more than 100 days. The company has also reduced the price of all of its CD-R and CD-RW Digital Audio media, used by consumers to create CD-quality music mixes on audio CD recorders. The price of the CD-R discs has fallen 33 percent (from $5.99 to $3.99 each), while the CD-RW media price has been cut in half (from $29.99 to $14.99).
