Trio of New Sony DVD Players Use Precision Drive System, ScanO - Brief Article

Three new DVD-Video players from Sony incorporate the company's exclusive Precision Drive System and Advanced Smooth ScanO feature. Two of the players (the DVP-S530D and DVP-S550D)include built-in, multifunctional Dolby Digital six-channel decoders with Sony's Digital Cinema Sound technology, as well as composite video outputs. The DVP-S530D's Dolby Digital decoder and six-channel analog outputs deliver Virtual Enhanced Surround Sound, while the DVP-S550D adds Digital Video Noise Reduction (DNR) as well as a Video Equalizer for improved picture performance, built-in Pro Logic decoders, and a DVD Navigator remote control. The third model, an entry-level player (the DVP-S330), includes an Advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) servo for better disc trackability, a high-speed stepping motor for extreme accuracy and fast access, and an exclusive tilt servo to compensate for minor disc imperfections. The player also incorporates Dolby Digital and Digital Theater Systems (DTS) with both coaxial and optical outputs. The DVP-S330 has a list price of $349, while the DVP-S530D and DVP-S550D run for $399 and $499, respectively.
