Maxell expands headquarters in preparation for expected growth

Maxell Corporation of America is expanding its U.S. headquarters facilities in Fair Lawn, New Jersey to prepare the company for anticipated growth in the new millennium. According to Len Haine, vice president and controller of Maxell Corporation of America, the company is increasing its headquarters space by almost one-third, with much of the new space to be occupied by the company's sales, marketing, and engineering staffs. "As a leading full-line manufacturer of consumer and professional storage media products, many of the categories we participate in are enjoying substantial growth, and Maxell has captured a leading market position in each of them," Haine explained in an expansion announcement. He adds that such product categories as data storage media are accounting for substantial growth, and that demand for CD-R, DLT cartridges, Zip disks, SuperDisk media, and MO disks is increasingly robust.

like a rainbow: Rimage debuts prism color CD-R printer

CD-R printing pioneer Rimage Corporation has released the Perfect Image Prism Printer, the first thermal transfer CD-R printer to offer full-color capability. Incorporating the dry thermal processing that gives Rimage its quality edge in high-volume CD-R production environments, the Prism printer enables the user to print customized on-demand graphics and text directly on the surface of the CD without affecting data integrity.

This dry thermal transfer process developed by Rimage for CD printing dries instantly and eliminates the risk of smearing, fading, or washing off that users face with inkjet products. A paneled ribbon adds a full palette of colors to the Perfect Image's trademark speed, sharpness, and high resolution. The Prism printer is now available as an option in Rimage's Perfect Image Producer System, a complete turnkey CD-R system that combines file transferring, recording and surface printing in an automated, scalable configuration.
