Nimbus Obtains License for C-Dilla's SafeDisc Anti-Piracy Solution

Nimbus CD International Inc., a Technicolor Company, responding to the growing concern throughout the industry over piracy of copyrighted material on CD and DVD, has expanded its anti-counterfeiting capabilities with the addition of SafeDisc. Licensed to Nimbus by United Kingdom-based C-Dilla, SafeDisc renders most illegitimate copies of optical discs useless. Transparent to the consumer, the anti-piracy measure employs an encoded signature technology. Pirated or illegitimate copies that do not contain the signature, including those copied illegally on CD-R drives, will not operate. The licensing agreement with C-Dilla allows Nimbus to apply the digital signature on the master discs of licensed software publishers. This protection, developed in conjunction with C-Dilla's long-standing, widely used Internet copy-protection technology, is provided by C-Dilla through the company's own agreement with individual publishers. The digital signature can only be applied by licensed SafeDisc replicators.
