Luminex Introduces Integrated DVD-RAM Library Hardware, Software Solution

Luminex has announced the DVD-Powered Series product line of DVD-RAM library solutions. The company calls the series the industry's first integrated DVD-RAM library hardware and software solution. The solutions include a DVD-RAM library, the Luminex Fire Series library management software, DVD-RAM media to fill the library, and Luminex's HOTfolders archiving software. The first library available is the DVD-Power-100 library with a 100 DVD-RAM disc capacity and four DVD-RAM drives. The total data capacity of the library is 260GB. The complete DVD-Power-100 solution has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $39,995. Any Luminex CDR-Power-100 library can be upgraded to the DVD-RAM version.

Plexus Announces O/SM Suite Compatibility with Cygnet Jukeboxes

Plexus Division (of BancTec Inc.) and Cygnet Storage Solutions Inc. have announced that Plexus' Object/Storage Management (O/SM) Suite is now fully compatible with Cygnet's DVD-RAM jukeboxes. The suite allows use of DVD-RAM technology exclusively or with other supported storage devices, so customers can easily switch between traditional magnetic storage devices and Cygnet's DVD-RAM jukeboxes as user needs dictate. Cygnet's jukeboxes can be operated in both NT and UNIX-based systems along with other types of optical drives and magnetic storage, offering current Plexus customers the option of adopting DVD-RAM technology and new media while preserving existing investments and legacy information.
