Cygnet Storage Solution has announced the completion of sale of its 12-inch WORM optical disc library manufacturing business to Plasmon IDE for $3.65 million. Cygnet plans to concentrate on CD and DVD jukebox storage products. Lennart Hjord, president, says, "The 12-inch write-once optical disc library has catered especially well to niche applications, that require long-term archiving of mission-critical data that cannot be changed or altered. With the acceptance of CD and DVD formats, those applications can be reached at substantially lower prices and without a negative impact on performance or functionality."
