CD Associates Introduce DVD Quick Test
CD Associates have announced DVD Quick Test (QTNET), a network-capable analyzer system. The system features one master computer that can control up to ten standalone DVD analyzers. The standalone devices can be any combination of CD Associates' DVD200MG, DVDSP200, or DVDSP200DL devices. Users can run tests on any of the drives from the master computer, and separate tests can be run on individual drives. "Split tests" can also be run using multiple copies of the same disc in several drives. The master computer and each of the individual drives use CD Associates DVD software.

Unapix Partners With Discwasher
Unapix Entertainment has allied with the Discwasher brand of Recoton Corporation to develop what is being called the "Discwasher DVD Audio and Video System Enhancer, model 1507." Model 1507 incorporates a customized version of Unapix's Ultimate DVD with Discwasher's DVD lens cleaner disc. The customized version of Ultimate DVD includes home theater calibration tools as well as demonstration material. Model 1507 will be distributed under the "Discwasher Digital" brand name. Additional products are under development by the two companies.

MPO/Americ Group Expands DVD Production
The MPO/Americ group has declared a worldwide DVD capacity of 40 million units for the year 2000, an increase of over 200%. The group has invested in plants in Spain, Ireland, and Thailand, and now boasts DVD production on three continents. These new lines are in addition to the original installations at MPO France and at Americ Disc California. "In 1999, our DVD capacity was utilized 100%," says Robert Doyon, president and CEO of Americ Disc. "It became clear that we had to expand very quickly in order to fulfill future orders."

Terran Interactive Releases Media Cleaner Power Suite 4.0.2
Media 100's Terran Interactive has released Media Cleaner Power Suite version 4.0.2. Features new to version 4.0.2 include support for all Apple G4 computers, increased compression speeds, and accelerated reading, decoding, processing, filtering, and encoding of video. Media Cleaner Power Suite version 4.0.2 is available as a free upgrade, or for a suggested street price of $6,495.

Sony Disc Manufacturing expands capacity
Sony Disc Manufacturing (SDM) has added 25 DVD production lines to its existing infrastructure in 2000. The expansion increases DVD capacity from 24 million to 120 million units per year at SDM's Terre Haute, Indiana facility. "Our DVD expansion plans are aggressive because the marketplace demands it," says Jim Frische, president of Sony Disc Manufacturing. SDM manufactures DVD-5, DVD-10, and DVD-9 discs.
