Emedia Professional, May, 1999

To meet the needs of users with increasing storage needs, Hewlett-Packard Company will include an internal HP CD-RW drive as standard equipment in its latest Pavilion PC. The inclusion of the drive as a standard feature is a clear indication of the increasing demand for CD-RW. The company believes CD-R and CD-RW will address users' needs to save and store large files and graphics, as well as the desire to back up data, create distribution CDs, or copy existing CDs for safeguarding. The previous standalone model, with a Pentium II processor, sold for $2,099. The new Pavilion PC features a Pentium Ill in addition to the CD-RW drive and will sell for approximately $2,499.
