Young Minds Introduces CD-R Network Management Application

Young Minds, Inc. has announced its new CD-R job management network application called CD-Q. This allows CD-R equipment to be shared over the network, and also allows CD-R jobs to be tracked and audited for accountability or billing. Every user can send unformatted data files or preformatted disc images to CD-Q, and any premastering software can be used to send a disc image to CD-Q. Jobs are prioritized, scheduled, and completed according to both preset and dynamic parameters for each user, group, and CD-R drive. UNIX, Linux, and Windows NT operating systems are supported.

K-Par Announces Archmedia Archival Management Software

K-Par Systems, Inc. has announced Archmedia, its archival management software for NT and Solaris. Archmedia allows jukeboxes to appear as a single drive letter for transparency in network environments. The software supports CD-ROM, CD-R, DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, magneto-optical (MO) rewritable, and WORM. Media within a jukebox can be transparently written to, from network clients. Multiple caches may be used for parallel processing, and files may be locked in cache. Global caching is also supported. Automated migration of data from hard disk or RAID to jukeboxes is accomplished with hierarchical storage management (HSM). Archmedia also includes a GUI, an API, and offline media management with system administrator notification.
