A CLOSER look at DVD-AUDIO

Emedia Professional, June, 1999 by Mark Waldrep

DVD-Audio discs give the record industry and audio consumers their own version of DVD. Device and software delivery begins later this year. The larger question, though, is whether the benefits of these new products will convince consumers to upgrade their systems and whether record companies will choose to produce and release content that takes advantage of the new specification.

Mark Waldrep [mwaldrep@aixentartainment.com], regular columnist for DVD BETWEEN THE LINES, is founder and President of AIX Media Group and Associate Professor at California State University, Dominguez Hills. He has been involved in all areas of interactive multimedia development and audio production since the mid-1980s, and is the inventor of i-trax, a hybrid audio and date CD format.
