Video and music industries expected to shrug off arrival of DVD

Emedia Professional, Feb, 1998

According to "DVD's New Content Model," a report developed by Forrester Research, DVD technologies will be embraced by PC users, but prove less favorable among video and music enthusiasts. The report predicts that only 5.2 percent of U.S. households will own a DVD-Video player by 2002, and that about 2 percent will have a DVD-Audio player.

Conversely, PC manufacturers are expected to ship 53 million DVD-equipped PCs within that same year. (617/497-7090; http.//www.forrester.com)
