According to research by the Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association, audio systems proved to be the best performing segment of U.S. audio equipment sales for the better part of 1997. Year-to-date figures released in November 1997 listed system sales at 1,347,571 in 1997, compared to 1, 169,671 in 1996.
