New information management system teams K-PAR's Archimedia with Kodak's CD Library 54

Emedia Professional, May, 1998

K-PAR Systems, Inc. and Kodak Business Imaging Systems have introduced an information management system that lets users in network environments store, retrieve, and manage data and documents stored on compact discs. Together, K-PAR Archimedia, an archive and data management software program, and the new Kodak Digital Science CD Library 54 jukebox enable multiple users across a network to access information from CDs simultaneously, with no loss in connection speed. (Archimedia also supports the Kodak Digital Science CD Library 144, introduced in 1997.) K-PAR's Archimedia provides transparent read/write access across mixed networks and allows multiple CDs to be written in parallel without the need for user intervention. The program caches all directories and files online, which enables the jukebox to work at peak performance. The CD Library 54 uses two drives and 54 CD slots to manage 35.1GB of information from a single workstation or over a local area network (LAN).
