The rebirth of recording media: the vinyl and VCR craze

Emedia Professional, August, 1998

Representatives of the International Recording Media Association (ITA) recently released surprising figures about the many--and for some, presumably dead--forms of recording media. Attendees at the group's annual conference were told that LP sales should reach 3.5 million in 1998, though the CD will continue to dominate the prerecorded music industry.

On the video hardware front, ITA announced that the VCR is still blowing away its competition (including DVD, LaserDisc, and DBS), having achieved sales of 16.6 million in 1997. (609/279-1700)
