1954's Mambo USA

Latin Beat Magazine, Dec, 1999 by Max Salazar

Fifty years have elapsed since Pérez Prado's mambo ¡Que Rico El Mambo! and Mambo #5, kicked off the mambo era in uptempo dance music. At the moment, mambos with jazz harmonies and soloists are being enjoyed in Europe and Asia. People still use the dance steps of the Palladium mambo, nothing has replaced it.

The mambo is a libidinous rhythm, an erotic sound which can cause bodily chemical changes. Tourists from all over the world look to the Caribbean to vacation because of the tropical climate, the breathtaking sights and the beaches, but after listening to mambos they head for Cuba. Tourists and music lovers are drawn to Cuba, because there one can overdose on a home-grown product called SON MONTUNO and not violate a law.
