Latin Beat Magazine, Dec, 1999
In reference to your October 99, issue and the article by Max Salazar titled The Manteca Story, which by the way, I enjoyed very much, my concern is a personal passion I possess to investigate deeper and wider the history of the musicians of that era who played jazz, blues, and Latin music. Any guidance on where or how to proceed in my search for this information will be greatly appreciated. I'm an amateur musician and writer in love with jazz music and Latin rhythms. Gracias

I am a true salsero and read Latin Beat every month. I believe it is one of the best Latin music magazines out right now. In New York City there are many music magazines but they all try to be to cool and slick and truly don't say much about anything. You guys have good information and good writers. My only complaint is that you don't have more pages in the magazine for me to read. Keep it up people.

Just seeing my girl India on your cover, was all I needed to buy an issue. I was quickly impressed with the entire magazine and even enjoyed trying to read some of the Spanish reviews, something which I rarely indulge in. I can speak a little street Spanish but never really learned to read it. But I do love the music, the dancing, and the party. India is my favorite female salsa singer. Good article and nice photos.
