Latin Beat Magazine, Feb, 2004 by Rudy Mangual

Initially formed in May of 2001 in the city of Asunción,Paraguay and simultaneously in Mexico City, Aroma is a multinational ensemble were the musicians ore all mole (ten of them) and the frontline interpreters are four females. In a genre that is predominately mole, Aroma has demonstrated that their combination is a perfect balance, which delivers a powerful sound, beautiful melodies and the fiery rhythm of the cumbia. Techi was the first member of the group discovered in Paraguay for her sweet voice and immediately designated to be the lead vocalist of the ensemble. Ah audition in Paraguay resulted in the selections of Teresita and Tatiana, selected to be background vocalists and dancers. The three ladies then traveled to Mexico City where soon thereafter a band of ten top-notch musicians was assembled for their accompaniment. Finally, several months later, the last member of the band was found, Ana, a singer/dancer originally from Mexico, D.F. By the end of 2001 their debut CD Mentiras was released earning them their first hit song Querido Ladrón.

Aroma's stage performance is ah explosive show of music, dance and tights, where every song is a cumbia party in itself. Their dynamic arrangements and clever lyrics make the transition from one cumbia to another a pleasant and entertaining experience. On the road and in the studios the vibes of the group are those of a family affair with open communications between all its members.

Enamoradas is the title of their third and latest release on the Fonovisa Records label. The single Por Un Rato is already climbing the charts in the United States, while in Mexico the track Síguela is making noise for this hot cumbia sensation. The group is scheduled for some long-term tours throughout the States as well as Latin America in support of the new CD. If you like cumbias, you will love Aroma.
