Latin Beat Magazine, Feb, 2005
Albert Torres Productions will be bringing back (by popular demand) the "Musicians Seminar" as a "Pre-West Coast Salsa Congress Event" to be held May 23rd--May 26th, 2005. Last year's premiere seminar was well received and enjoyed by musicians of all levels of experience. Even though the percussion and vocal instructions seem to be the most popular choices by the patrons, most of the other instrument seminars did fairly well in their opening year.
This time around, registration figures indicate that entire bands are participating.
This music seminar is designed for music students and professionals and entails four days of intensive class and individual instruction in salsa and Latin music in general.
Participants will receive the benefit of instruction focused on their individual instruments, as well as ensemble workshops. Instruments to be taught are those most commonly utilized in Latin music: piano, bass, trumpet, trombone, saxophane, flute, timbal, congas, bongó and vocals. The instructors will consider other instruments on an individual basis.
Internationally renowned musicians of the Latin music genre, some of whom ore considered legendary in their field, will teach the seminar.
The instructors this year will be:
Johnny Pacheco--Honorary Musical Director
Oscar Hernández--piano/Musical Director
Andy González--bass
John Walsh--trumpet
Jimmy Bosch--trombone
Mitch Frohman--saxophones & flute
Manny Oquendo--timbal & bongós (old school)
Pablo "Chino" Nuñez--timbal & bongós (new school)
Bobby Allende--congas
Ray de la Paz, Frankie Vásquez and Willie Torres--vocals
All classes will be limited to 15 registered students. Register yourself of your entire band and learn from "The Best in the World of Latin Music." Do not miss this special opportunity to learn from the professional musicians of this wonderful music.
