Around town ... New Jersey-based, Cuban-style band Rico Tumbao has been treating dancers to traditional and contemporary Cuban music at Ciao Soho, in Manhattan's Village.

Niño Torrente's Son de Hoy has been playing the Cuba Lounge, also in the Village, on Thursday and Saturday nights, and Victor's Café, on Fridays.

David Chamberlain, Luisito Ayala, and Igor Atalita's DLI (Direct Latín Influence) have been performing at the prestigious Rainbow Room.

Recently, New York's West Gate Lounge has featured Luisito Rosario, Ernie Acevedo & Conjunto Imagen, Fajardo, Jr. y sus Estrellas, Frankie Morales' Mambo of the Times Orchestra, Wayne Gorbea & Salsa Picante, Orquesta Broadway, and Dave Santiago & Latin Affair on Saturday nights.

Niño Torrente & Son de Hoy, the Bronx Horns, Henry Fiol, Conjunto Imagen, Orquesta Broadway, Alfredo de la Fé, the Charanga All-Stars and Típica Novel have been recent attractions at La Maganette.

Grupo Latin Vibe still plays Friday nights at the Parkside Lounge, on the Lower East Side.
