Bobby Ramirez - Artículo Breve

Latin Beat Magazine, April, 2002

A native of Santa Clara, Cuba, Bobby Ramírez arrived in Miami, Florida with his family while still a child. By age 14 he was learning to play the saxophone and he also developed an interest in playing the flute and the guitar, as well as arranging and composing. He wrote his first full big band arrangement for an 18-piece orchestra at age 16 while still attending high school. He was a featured soloist with the concert jazz band of the Florida International University. Ramírez's musical influences range from Charlie Parker and José Fajardo, to the Beatles and Earth Wind & Fire. He's been performing his personal style of Latin jazz in many festivals and concerts throughout southern Florida since the mid-1980s. He also conducts educational clinics in the area as well as supports many of the local charities in South Florida.

Aside from performing Latin jazz music, Ramírez also leads two other bands, Ritmo Caliente Del Caribe Orchestra & Dance Troupe--a show band that performs both contemporary Latin music and American top 40-- and Havana Nights, that perform authentic Cuban dance music of the '30s, '40s and '50s.

Apart from his musical talents Ramírez enjoys web/graphic designing, reading about the history of music and writing for Latin jazz Club Magazine. He released his debut CD, Ritmo Jazz Latino several years ago, receiving commendable reviews. Pan Con Bistec is the title of his latest CD that will be available soon.
