Daniel de los Reyes will be playing percussion as part of an all-star band headed by Steve Jordan in two concerts to honor Timothy White, a highly respected music journalist, who for the past 11 years was editor of BILLBOARD. He died on June 27 in New York of a heart attack, at the age of 50.
Timothy's friends and colleagues have come together to organize two concerts to benefit his widow, Judy Garlan White, and their twin sons, Alexander and Christopher. The concerts will be held in Boston on October 7, at the FleetCenter, and in New York on October 8 at Madison Square Garden. Artists participating in both shows include Sheryl Crow, Don Henley, John Mellencamp and Sting. Added to the Boston concert will be performances by Billy Joel and James Taylor and, for the New York concert, performances by Jimmy Buffett and Brian Wilson. Net proceeds will be for the benefit of the White family and all participating artists have donated their services.
Tickets for both shows went on sale August 26 through Ticketmaster. Tickets for the Boston show went on sale at the FleetCenter box office on August 26. Tickets for the New York show went on sale at Madison Square Garden's box office on August 27. Further news will be available at Billboard's website, www.Billboard.com.
