The legendary genius of Argentinean tango, Astor Piazzolla, left this world almost fifteen years ago, but before his departure, he introduced the tango to the most prestigious concert halls around the world. One of his last statements read, "I wish for my music to be heard in the year 2020." With this in mind, Milan Records embarked on producing Astor Piazzolla Remixed, although it is not quite 2020. Over a dozen of Piazzolla's most popular compositions were revisited, remixed and reinterpreted by numerous artists from the nuovo electronic music scene. All the selections were recreated while using the original master recordings with no separate tracks. The group Koop from Sweden transformed the composition Vuelve Al Sur into a summer chill track via a smooth jazzy mix. From London, 4Hero added their trademark beats to El Viaje, transporting it directly into the Eurodance club scene, while Zeb opted to bring the Spanish touch to the track Prelude Fugue VMM through the strings of an acoustic guitar. Nickodemus and Osiris morphed Tanguedia 3 into a funky dance mix, and Alex Kid turned the composition Luna into a mesmerizing dub, which he renamed Full Moon Remix. DJ Toshio Matsuura from Japan accentuated the dark side of tango in his remix of Resurrección Del Angel. While this project is meant to take Piazzolla's music to another level and perhaps a new audience, purists and fans of the maestro will applaud the fact that a disc including the original tracks by Piazzolla is being released concurrently with this production.
