Gabriel Rosati

Gabriel "Oscar" Rosati was born in Italy of Brazilian descent. He began playing the trumpet at the age of seven, and by twelve was accepted in the Italian National Conservatory of Music which he completed at age 17, receiving degrees in trumpet, trombone, solfeggio, theory, harmony and music history. Relocating to the U.S. in 1990, he recorded and performed with Gerardo, Santana, Malo, Claudio Roditi, Chet Baker, Elsa Soares and Dando Pérez, among others. Latin American Trumpet Music is applicable to the intermediate level trumpet student or to the professional. It is an introduction to the world of Latin music for a horn player. The book is divided into nine chapters and four sections. Section A: (Approach) includes chapters 1 & 2, mental and physical attitudes - comprehending and grasping the spirit of Latin American music. Section B: (Analysis) includes chapters 3 & 4, horn player's techniques - styles from Cuban to Mariachi, merengue, salsa, reggae, ska, Brazilian, cumbias, tango, bomba, plena, banda, and more. Section C: (Practice) covers chapters 5, 6, & 7, warm-up - breathing - reading - vibrato - accents - range - bending - improvisation, and more. Section D: (Conclusion) compact disc tunes - charts - ear training and basic discography for horn players. Excellent tool for all horn players.
