New digital control for machining center

Diesel Progress North American Edition, Oct, 2004

Fadal Machining Centers has introduced the 104/D, its new proprietary digital control with higher CPU speed and Windows 2000 Professional-based operating system. The 104/D combines a number of software, hardware, interface and ergonomic improvements. The 104/D will be a standard feature of new Fadal vertical machining centers (VMC). The centers are used by a variety of vehicular equipment manufacturers and component suppliers. The new controls are also compatible to older Fadal VMCs. Fadal said the 104/D win also be upgradeable over the life of the machine. Fadal said testing has demonstrated an increase of up to 10 times the cutting feed rate without deviating from part tolerances. These increases in cutting feed rates are complemented by the control's ability to run DNC 100 times faster through an integrated 10 base T/100 Ethernet. The control's data storage capacity is 4 GB eliminating the need to purchase expanded memory.
