International design for new counterbalance hydraulic valve

Diesel Progress North American Edition, Oct, 2004

Sauer-Danfoss Inc. has announced the release of its first cartridge valve to be developed by an international team of design engineers, the CB10 counterbalance valve. The CB10 is the first Sauer-Danfoss cartridge valve product to be developed jointly and manufactured globally.

Sauer-Danfoss said the cartridge valve and hydraulic integrated circuit (HIC) product line has integrated European and North American design and manufacturing entities to better control quality and provide quicker custom design, product delivery and technical support, especially to multinational clients.

To better serve mobile equipment manufacturers worldwide, Sauer-Danfoss acquired Compact Controls, Hillsboro, Ore., in January 2001, and Comatrol S.p.A., Reggio Emilia, Italy, in April 2002. When added to the North American location's experience in developing valves, the result, said Sauer-Danfoss, is a group of designers and manufacturing teams that are able to deliver custom products in shorter time frames.

For example, the CB10 design team members were from Reggio Emilia and Hillsboro. The directional control valves and cartridge valves/HICs are manufactured in Brazil, Denmark, Italy, Slovakia and Oregon and South Carolina.

The CB10 is the latest addition to Sauer-Danfoss' line of cartridge valves that can be employed in a custom manifold to create an HIC requiring less plumbing, easier installation and service, and fewer leak points, the company said. Typical applications for CB10 include boom lifts, scissor lifts, winches, cranes and low-power propel systems, such as aerial lifts and greens mowers. Sauer-Danfoss said the valves are also well suited to mobile equipment for turf care, road building, agriculture, construction, forestry and other industries.
